(EETV) Despite suffering a loss at the hands of No. 2 LSU on Friday night, the No. 19 Auburn gymnastics team managed to walk away from the meet with a number of reasons to be optimistic going forward. The Tigers broke the 197 mark for the first time since 2019 behind a highlight performance by junior Derrian Gobourne, a display that was worth of SEC Specialist of the week honors.

Pearl Hopeful For Defensive Improvement Against Vanderbilt

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) In their last three game appearances, the Auburn Tigers have found themselves on the losing end of offensive showcases. Since its last win over No. 12 Missouri, Auburn has allowed opponents to average 87 points per contest, showing no resemblance of consistency on the defensive end of the floor. The Tigers are currently the top shot-blocking team in college basketball; however, if they hope to return to the win column in Tuesday night’s contest against Vanderbilt, head coach Bruce Pearl knows his squad will need to establish an identity on defense.

In response to the setback, new head coach Brian Harsin has looked elsewhere for a quick fix to support the 2021 class: the transfer portal.
