AUBURN, Ala. — The Auburn equestrian team defended the stables against Fresno State on Saturday, Oct. 31, with a massive 17-3 score.
The Tigers were riding off a five-game win streak to start their season, with little room for error to maintain the title of No. 1 in the country.
Fresno entered the meet as a top-10 team in the country, with players like Paris Mahoney who have dominated opponents in previous matchups.
The first half was reining and flat, where Auburn took the lead with a total score of 819-767. Auburn scored well in fencing, with Avery Glynn and Taylor Cawley notching 89 and 86, respectively.
The flat was much the same, with every Auburn rider scoring at least three points over their matchup. Caroline Olsen had a squad-best performance with 89 points against Fresno’s talented Paris Mahoney, who did well herself with 81 points. The Tigers would take all five available points, 394-360.
In horsemanship, another clean sweep with a total of 373-363.5. A noted performance for Bronze World Champion Maddie Rippeon with 76 points.
The Tigers added another win in reining, taking the event 3-2. A great event for younger players, with sophomore Kailee Rife and freshman Lindsey Lester each having 69.5 points for two wins in the category.
Auburn finishes their home stretch 6-0 and as the No. 1 team in the country before they face off against more SEC and out-of-conference competition. The team will face off against Baylor on Nov. 6.
