Rep. Maxine Waters to speak Friday

AUBURN, ALA. (EETV) - The Alabama College Democrats will host U.S. Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Cali., tomorrow evening.  Waters, who has served in the House of Representatives since 1991, is the most senior African-American women currently serving in the House.

Three Auburn Softball players arrested on marijuana charges

AUBURN, ALA. (EETV) - Three Auburn softball players have been arrested on charges of possession of marijuana 2nd degree and drug paraphernalia. Senior Hayley Fagan, sophomore Makayla Martin, and freshman Brittany Maresette were arrested early Thursday morning.  Fagan is the starting shortstop, Martin is one of the starting pitchers in the rotation, and Maresette comes off the bench in a pinch running. Eagle Eye has reached out to Auburn Athletics for a statement regarding the arrests.

AUBURN, ALA. (EETV) - A peaceful protest took place on the Student Center green space before Richard Spencer spoke in Foy Hall.

Protests escalate on campus

AUBURN, ALA. (EETV) - Protests have started to escalate on campus, with three people being arrested for fighting Tuesday evening before alt-right Richard Spencer's event. Those three are from unknown parties but were arrested in front of Foy Hall.  Many individuals have shown up in riot gear, including gas masks.  Several groups have shown up on Auburn's campus, including pro and anti fascist groups.  The event on the green space is relatively quiet and peaceful.

Atlanta Antifa: "We will be gathering at Auburn University"

In a post on the website "It's going down" the group Atlanta Antifascists has pledged to be in Auburn Tuesday night at 6:00. The group said, "We must show up ready for conflict in the numbers necessary to thwart their attempts at silencing us.

AU updates campus community regarding Richard Spencer

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn University has issued the following statement to the campus community ahead of Richard Spencer's anticipated visit to campus this afternoon "In an effort to update the campus community regarding the recent cancellation of the Richard Spencer event, it is the university’s understanding that—despite our requests for him not to attend—Spencer may still appear on Auburn’s campus at some point today. While the university does not know the specifics of if and when this event might unfold, the safety and security of the campus remains our highest priority. Students, faculty, and staff should remain aware of their surroundings and report any unusual or threatening activity to the Auburn Police Division (334-501-3100). The university is working closely with law enforcement to monitor the situation and any new developments." **This situation is developing.

White Student Union warning of ANTIFA group on campus

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Flyers are circulating on campus "Warning students that Atlanta Antifa is coming to Auburn on Tuesday April 18th.  The flyers, circulated by the White student union who recently had their own conflict with the university, warns that the ANTIFA group is a violent and aggressive organization. ANTIFA which stands for Anti-Facist is a group that " oppose white supremacist and fascist organizing in our region through education, confrontation, and building a grassroots culture of resistance." according to the Atlanta ANTIFA Facebook page. The group has decided that they will be in Auburn on Tuesday to counter the Richard Spencer event.
