Sample ballot for Auburn municipal election

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn's municipal election is just around the corner, with multiple candidates vying for several city government positions. The City of Auburn has released a sample ballot for the election, which can be found here.  Eagle Eye TV also sat down with four of the mayoral candidates including Ron Anders, Brittany Cannon Dement, Jordan Langdon and David Hill.  The election will be held August 28 with polls open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm.

Annual Welcome Week events set to kickoff Thursday

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University’s annual Welcome Week events kick off Thursday as students start to head back to the plains for the start of the fall semester. Over 100 events will be hosted over the week by different campus organizations and departments in order to ring in the new academic year. This is the first year that Welcome Week has officially moved under the auspices of the University Program Council and organization officials are expecting a major lineup of events this year.

Auburn Battles Clemson to Draw in Opening Exhibition

CLEMSON, S.C. – In a match that was delayed by more than two hours due to weather, Auburn and Clemson battled to a 2-2 draw after playing three 30-minute periods Wednesday night at Riggs Field. Auburn will close out the preseason with an exhibition vs. Kennesaw State at the Auburn Soccer Complex on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. CT. Man charged with multiple counts of capital murder in 2006 missing person case

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn Police announced that on Monday Derrill Richard “Rick” Ennis was arrested in Pilot, Montgomery County, Virginia, by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force, Virginia State SWAT and Montgomery County Virginia SWAT teams on outstanding grand jury indictments for Capital Murder (Burglary) and Capital Murder (Kidnapping). The indictments stem from an ongoing investigation by Auburn Police and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Cold Case Unit into the disappearance of Lori Ann Slesinski in June 2006. Slesinski was first reported missing in June of 2006 after she hadn’t been heard from in several days, couldn’t be reached by family members and had not reported to work.

Meet the Candidates: Jordan Langdon

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- An Auburn University student has thrown their hat into the Auburn mayoral election, joining three other candidates. Auburn sophomore Jordan Langdon officially qualified to run for Auburn's highest office Wednesday according to Auburn city officials. “I’ve always had an interest in government from a young age," stated Langdon in a press release sent out by his campaign "I have had a desire to serve the community that I love so dearly, but I never knew exactly how.

Pet of the Week: Mr. Wiggles

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- This week's Lee County Humane Society Pet of the Week is Mr. Wiggles. Mr. Wiggles is four year old male dog who got his name due to his constant happiness.  Humane society officials say that he has become a staff favorite and is well behaved. Mr. Wiggles is available for adoption at the Lee County Humane Society.

Auburn Police investigating early morning traffic fatality

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn Police are investigating an early morning traffic accident.  Police and Fire personnel responded Tuesday around 7:00 am to a single vehicle accident involving a 2004 Honda CB600 motorcycle in the 300 block of West Veterans Boulevard. A preliminary investigation indicates that the driver, David Avery Smotherman, from Opelika, lost control of the motorcycle, crossed into the opposing lane, left the roadway and struck a utility pole.  Officials say that Smotherman was pronounced dead on the scene by Lee County Chief Deputy Coroner Gene Manning.  The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Auburn Police Division.

One killed in Opelika shooting

OPELIKA, Ala. (EETV)- An Opelika man was pronounced dead following a shooting Thursday night. The victim, Antonio Drisker, was reportedly shot in the 200 block of Veterans Parkway in Opelika.
