HealthSouth to partner with Auburn University School of Nursing

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)– HealthSouth Corporation of Birmingham recently invested $325,000 in Auburn University’s School of Nursing, solidifying the partnership between the healthcare provider and the university’s nursing program. HealthSouth’s gift supports the School of Nursing’s effort to raise $5.6 million in private funding to match university funds for Auburn’s first facility specifically built and designed for nursing education.

AU to name new preforming arts center after retiring president

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) — The Auburn University Board of Trustees today approved naming the institution’s new performing arts center in honor of retiring president Jay Gogue and his wife, Susie. The Jay and Susie Gogue Performing Arts Center fulfills the Gogues’ vision for a world-class performing arts center at Auburn University.

Arrest made in Auburn Home burglary case

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - On June 8, 2017, Auburn Police arrested Elijah Lee, age 19 from Auburn on warrants charging him with Burglary 3rd Degree and Theft of Property 3rd Degree. The arrest stems from an investigation into a report of a burglary that occurred on June 1st at a residence in the 700 block of Meagan Lane.

Fruits and vegetables have healthy impact on Alabama’s economy

AUBURN, Ala. – While fruits and vegetables are undeniably good for the body, they’re also a major boost for Alabama’s economy, Auburn University and Alabama Agricultural Experiment Station economists found in a recently completed analysis of the industry. “Specialty crops is definitely a potential growth area for Alabama,” said Deacue Fields, chair of the College of Agriculture’s Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology and study leader. “We grow a lot of corn, cotton, soybeans and peanuts, but in terms of profitability per acre, specialty crops rank highest,” Fields said. The study was funded by the Specialty Crop Block Grant Program of the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.

AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn University President Jay Gogue has drawn on his long career in higher education administration to develop a digital textbook on the subject. “A President’s Perspective” was available for review at the recent American Council on Education annual meeting where it received high praise from university presidents, scholars and students for its innovative use of media and technology to deliver content. The new digital textbook is being described as unlike any other in the field.
