Congressman Mike Rogers responds to Kavanaugh accusations

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Alabama Congressman Mike Rogers responded to the accusations levied against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh saying that he is suspect of the timing. The accusations by Christine Blasey Ford, allege that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when he was 17.

FEMA to conduct nationwide test

On October 3rd at approximately 1:20 PM CDT, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is testing the capabilities of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System, also known as IPAWS. IPAWS is a national system for local officials to provide emergency messaging to the public. Emergency Alert System test messages will be broadcast over radio and television stations. For the first time, a wireless emergency alert test message will be sent to compatible cell phones. The test will assess the readiness of the system to send out national alerts. These alerts are designed to notify the public as early as possible to keep everyone safe. FEMA has conducted significant coordination with the broadcast community, wireless carriers, and emergency managers in preparation for this national test. The test was originally planned for September 20th, but due to ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Florence, it was postponed.

Minnesota Vikings part ways with Daniel Carlson

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Its been a rough few days for Auburn football and their alumni. One day after going 0-3 on field goals including two in overtime that could have won the game for the Minnesota Vikings against the Green Bay Packers, the team announced that they have severed ties with kicker Daniel Carlson.

College Republicans to host Rep. Mike Rogers

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University's College Republicans are hosting Rep. Mike Rogers Tuesday night in Dudley Hall B6 auditorium. Rogers represents the third congressional district which stretches from east Montgomery County all the way towards Cherokee County in the northern portion of the state. "He's really just going to come and speak to students and take questions from students as well," said College Republicans Chairman Seth Ingram to Eagle Eye TV. Ingram added that Rogers is expected to discuss the Space Force project and recent tax reform legislation.  Rogers, who has served since 2003, faces former Miss America Mallory Hagan in the November midterm election.

Samford Hall lit up Saturday to thank Auburn's donors

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University's Samford Hall lit up Saturday night following the Auburn football game. The show, which featured images of iconic Auburn buildings and traditions, was meant to thank the hundreds of donors to the 'Because This Is Auburn' donation campaign. University officials say that the campaign was the most successful fundraising campaign in Auburn's history, raising more than $1.2 billion. Auburn was the first university in Alabama to raise a billion dollars.  Funds will go towards new faculty positions, building projects and multiple programs across all of Auburn's colleges.

Gov. Kay Ivey sending troops to help with hurricane response

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (EETV) – Gov. Kay Ivey announced on Wednesday that Alabama is sending resources and state employees to help with hurricane response efforts in North Carolina. The Alabama Emergency Management Agency has been asked for help from North Carolina and South Carolina as Hurricane Florence gets closer to the East Coast.

Auburn hosting book talk with Common Book Author Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, the author of this year's Common Book, is scheduled to speak on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in the Auburn University Student Center Ballroom. Divakaruni’s book “One Amazing Thing” describes the fictional story of several people from diverse different backgrounds who become trapped together by an earthquake for days. Through its stories, the book discusses topics including cultural and ethnic diversity. Many University classes are going to be using the book to discuss things such as cultural interactions, immigration, benefits of travel and impacts of natural disasters.
