FBI, OPD arrest Opelika student after school threat

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - An Opelika teen has been arrested following threats made against Opelika High School. The threat was made on-line by a juvenile who was chatting while playing a video game.  The threat made was to “shoot up OHS”.  The Opelika Police Department and Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation were able to locate the suspect’s residence. OPD Detectives along with FBI Agents went to the address and located the 16-year-old suspect.  The juvenile suspect was arrested and charged with Making a Terrorist Threat.  He was taken to the Lee County Youth Development Center pending a hearing in Juvenile Court.  The investigation did not locate any credible plan of action on the suspect’s part and there appears no present danger to students of the Opelika City Schools.  The Opelika City School Systems Administration was informed of the information and is working very closely with the Police Department to ensure the safety and well-being of every child.
