Brian Harsin Previews Auburn's Opening Week of Spring Practice

Auburn, AL (EETV)- Head coach Brian Harsin and the Auburn Tigers have officially started spring practice this week. The team will practice on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday to start preparing for the new season.

The coaching staff has been working the players hard in the weight room during the offseason. Coach Harsin believes that their "mentality" in the weight room and the practice field will dictate how they play.

He spoke highly of the offseason workouts saying, "I think our strength staff did a great job getting our guys prepared strength wise. I'm sure you saw some of the videos our guys on the bench press and them just getting in there and competing with their reps. I do want to say to the strength staff how much I appreciate them and their work with our players."

Harsin praised a number of players including Tank Bigsby, Bo Nix, Zakoby McClain, and Owen Pappoe for their leadership in the offseason."Them and a number of other players stepped up. It wasn't just a handful of guys. It was team driven when it came to the overall improvement. I thought the attitude of the whole team was good."

When asked about the quarterback position, Harsin said, "Just being around the quarterback room, I think Coach Bobo has done a good job. I enjoy getting to watch these guys prepare themselves and what their demenor is in the weight room and on the practice field. What I want to see from that group in particular, I wanna see guys come prepared and ready to compete and operate the system."

Harsin provided updates on wide reciever Zavion Capers and offensive lineman Brandon Concil who are both dealing with injuries from last season. They will both be "involved in practice" but will be doing seperate drills as they continue to heal.

Auburn's spring practices will continue throughout the next couple of weeks until the A-Day game which is scheduled for April 17th with the time still TBA.
