Auburn shuts out Gadsden State 14-0 in fall exhibition

AUBURN, Ala. — The Auburn softball team took the field against the Gadsden State Cardinals for a fall ball bash at Jane B. Moore Field. The Tigers found a 14-0 victory showing their strength offensively.

The Tigers quickly established control, using timely hitting and strong pitching to take an early lead. Maniah Wack opened the scoring in the first inning with a two-run home run, giving Auburn a 2-0 lead and a preview of how the Tigers would bat for the rest of the day.

Wack’s power helped fuel the Tigers’ early offensive success, while Auburn’s defense remained steady behind its pitchers. The Tigers committed zero errors throughout the contest, limiting opportunities for the Cardinals to get back into the game.

Ella Harrison took the mound for Auburn, recording five strikeouts across two innings. Caitlyn Reigns started for the Cardinals and recorded four strikeouts despite the defensive struggles behind her.

As the game progressed, Auburn continued to extend its lead with offensive pressure. Ava Ratliff contributed multiple doubles and an RBI single, while Kylie Shaw showcased her speed on the base paths with a stolen base.

The Tigers’ offense reached another level in the sixth inning, putting together an explosive five-run frame fueled by free bases and contact hits.

Abby Hearnen also provided effective relief pitching, working three innings to help maintain Auburn’s advantage. Wack added another home run to further highlight the Tigers’ power at the plate.

The first game concluded with a 12-0 victory for Auburn, but the Tigers continued their strong performance in a second, shorter exhibition segment. Auburn added two more runs while keeping Gadsden State off the scoreboard, securing another 2-0 win.

The combined 14-0 shutout showcased the Tigers’ offensive depth, defensive consistency, and pitching strength as Auburn continues its preparation for the upcoming season.
