Governor Awards Grants to Aid Abuse Victims

MONTGOMERY, Ala (EETV) — Gov. Kay Ivey awarded $3.8 million to ensure abuse victims throughout the state have access to professional assistance and care as they escape situations involving domestic violence, sexual assault or child abuse.

50 New Jobs Coming to Auburn

AUBURN, Ala (EETV) – Governor Kay Ivey on Monday announced that Milwaukee-based Briggs & Stratton Corp. plans to begin production of Vanguard big block V-twin engines at its Auburn location in 2018, ultimately creating approximately 50 new jobs for the area. The project involves a $12 million investment from the company.

She was joined in Telfair Peet Theatre by all three female SGA presidents Auburn has ever had; Cindy Holland Tolbert, Lauren Hayes Smith and current president Jacqueline Keck.

Auburn and Lee County Launch SNYP Program

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - The Spay Neuter Your Pet (SNYP) program is designed to help prevent pet overpopulation and to aid members of our community who cannot otherwise afford to have their pets spayed or neutered. The program, in its second year, is financed by the City of Auburn, the City of Opelika, the City of Smiths Station and the Lee County Commission.

Auburn Man Charged with 1st Degree Rape

AUBURN, Ala (EETV) - On Tuesday, October 24, 2017 Auburn Police, arrested Jubal D. Camp, age 18, from Auburn on a felony warrant charging him with Rape 1st Degree The arrest stems from an investigation into a reported sexual assault that occurred at a residence on Longleaf Drive on October 8, 2017.

SGA passes laws regulating campaigning

The SGA meeting was full of activity Monday night primarily focused on concourse campaigning and off-campus campaigning. The SGA passed a pair of election laws limiting ten people being able to campaign on each concourse and making people not being able to use any form of electronic devices to accumulate votes off campus.  The concourse campaigning law was initially tabled due to the lack of clarity that it provided.

Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

Sunday, October 22nd, the Alpha Chi Omega sorority hosted Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. The event, which was held on The Green Space at Auburn University’s campus, raised money for the domestic violence intervention center of Opelika. The event provided a fun and safe way to raise awareness about a difficult topic.

Auburn Man Arrested On Three Felony Warrants

AUBURN, Ala (EETV) - On Monday, October 23, 2017 Auburn Police arrested Jeremy French Peters, age 20, from Auburn on three felony warrants charging him with Breaking and Entering of a motor vehicle, Burglary Third Degree, and Theft of Property Second Degree.

"Peeping Tom" seen outside Auburn woman's window

Auburn Police Officers were alerted to a reported "Peeping Tom" on Monday morning. The incident happened at an apartment on East University Drive. According to APD Captian Lorenza Dorsey, "A 31 year old female reported that she observed an unknown black male outside of her window." Dorsey says that the man fled on foot before officers arrived on the scene.  The Police Division encourages residents to help in preventing these types of incidents by keeping shrubbery, trees, etc.
