MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — The Auburn University women’s golf team competed in the ANNIKA Intercollegiate tournament at Royal Golf Club in Minneapolis, Minn. alongside 11 other teams, seven of which were ranked within the top 25. The Tigers finished fourth out of 12 teams, shooting one stroke under par for the entire tournament.
Balma Dávalos Guaita rebounded in the second and third rounds after opening two strokes over par. She finished with a birdie on the final hole, tying for eighth individually at 1-under par (74-70-71).
Anna Davis showed continuous progress, improving by one stroke every round (73-72-71). Davis responded to a difficult front nine by shooting 5-under par on the back nine, including six one-putts. She finished the tournament at even par, tied for 11th individually.
Davis emphasized the team’s chemistry and ability to stay positive throughout the tournament.
“We’re a very young team, so we keep it very lively. We have a lot of fun,” Davis said. “Golf can be a very frustrating game, so it’s nice to get done with your round and come back to a very welcoming group.”
Molly Brown Davidson had a rough first round but bounced back dramatically in the second to finish the final round at even par (75-70-72). Davidson tied for 15th with just one stroke over par for the entire tournament.
Anne Fernandez started well at 1-under par but did not maintain the same pace for the following rounds. She finished with 3-over, tying for 27th (71-75-73).
Charlotte Canton finished at 4-over par but continually improved throughout the tournament. Her 71 in the final round was Auburn’s strongest individual round alongside Davis (76-73-71).
The Tigers came into the tournament ranked No. 8 and were expected to deliver a competitive performance. They finished fourth, with all players inside the top half of the tournament’s 60-player field and three finishing in the top 15. The Tigers will return to compete in the Canadian Invitational Collegiate in Aurora, Ontario Sept. 21-22.
