BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Auburn women’s soccer team remained unbeaten Thursday night after earning a hard-fought 1-0 victory over UAB in Birmingham. The Tigers now stand 4-0-2 on the season and have gone unbeaten through their first six games.
The Auburn women’s soccer team has now become the 10th team in program history to remain unbeaten through the first six games of a season, continuing what has been an impressive start for the team.
Auburn entered the match with high energy and confidence following its strong start to the season. Anticipation was high on both sides, as Thursday night marked the first meeting between the Tigers and Blazers since 2021.
Both teams struggled to score throughout the first half. Auburn, however, controlled much of the play. The Tigers finished the game with 15 total shots, compared to seven from the Blazers. Despite the pressure, neither team scored before halftime, sending them into the break tied 0-0.
Ten minutes into the second half, the Tigers broke through when Ellie Rebmann scored an assist from Ava Caldwell to give Auburn a 1-0 lead. Rebbman’s goal helped to secure Auburn’s victory as the Tigers' defense held off the Blazers to secure the victory and another clean sheet.
“This was a hard-fought road win where we grinded out the result,” head coach James Armstrong said. “They showed a lot of character throughout the game to create a number of chances and keep another clean sheet.
Auburn will return to action Sunday night with another road trip to Birmingham to face Samford at Shauna Yelton Field. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m. CT and will be available on ESPN+.
