Auburn Routs Georgia to Improve to 15-0

Auburn, AL (EETV)- Auburn put together one of their best preformances of the season in a rout of Georgia by a final of 82-60. With the game moved to 11am because of the weather conditions, it didn't seem to throw off the Tigers by any means.

After falling behind early, Auburn would have an explosive 15-1 run to stretch the lead out to 15 points. Samir Doughty and Alan Flanigan led the way as Doughty scored 10 and Flanigan scored 9. Auburn would lead at halftime 35-24.

The Tigers came out of halftime and did not let up as they stretched the lead out to 25. Auburn got hot from three-point range as they knocked down nine three-point shots.

The Bulldogs could not get anything offensively as they shot just 38% from the field. Freshman standout Anthony Edwards would score 18 but did not have a good day as he was on 6 for 15 from the field.

Auburn would be led by Doughty who scored 17 points and Flanigan who would score a career high 12 points on the day. Anfernee McLemore had a big day off the bench scoring 12 points in the game.

Auburn's bench would score 34 points in total which is what the Coach Bruce Pearl had been wanting to see more of from his team. Pearl said, " The bench was terrific. It was probably the best the bench played. We got four 3s between Allen Flanigan and Jamal Johnson. We got really good defensive rotations. The numbers speak for themselves."

The win was the fifth straight for the Tigers over Georgia since the 2017/18 season. Auburn will look to make it six straight as they face Georgia in Athens on February 19th.

The Tigers are now 15-0 for the first time since the 1998 season when they went 17-0 until falling to seventh-ranked Kentucky 72-62 in Rupp Arena.

Auburn's record is now 15-0 (3-0 SEC) and they will go on a difficult road stretch as they face Alabama in Tuscaloosa on Wednesday and then travel to Florida next Saturday. Tip-off for the Alabama game will begin at 8:00 PM with the game to be televised ESPN2.
