Spring Semester Critical Conversation Speakers Announced

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)– Following the launch of Auburn University’s Critical Conversations Speaker Series this fall, the university has announced the slate of distinguished scholars and thought leaders who will visit the campus in spring 2018. Representing diverse perspectives on topics that include free speech, women, diversity in STEM and intellectual diversity, the spring slate will kick off with Robert Shibley, executive director of Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, or FIRE, on Feb.

The SGA passed multiple laws expanding program funds for various activities. They passed the program expansion fund laws for the Red Barn Series and the Special Activities.  The Red Barn Series is a 2-day concert series involving singer-songwriter, alternative, and indie bands.

Rare White Squirrel Spotted On Auburn's Campus

AUBURN, Ala (EETV)- A local squirrel spotted on Auburn’s campus is bringing a lot of attention, and causing a lot of confusion among students and faculty members. The squirrel, which is completely white, has been spotted in several areas on campus and is possibly the rarest wild animal spotted in recent months at Auburn. “This is kinda of unique situation,” said Auburn University Coordinator for Biological Sciences Matthew Kearley.

The North Korean Conflict: Where Are We Headed?

Auburn, Ala. (EETV)- Korean Corner hosts panel discussion to discuss conflicting issues the United States has concerning North Korea, and the direction we are headed.  This past Thursday, November 9, 2017, Auburn University's Korean Corner held "The North Korean Conflict: Where Are We Headed?"-- a panel discussion from 6:00 to 7:30 in the Sciences Center Auditorium. This public event was created to obtain a thorough understanding of the history of conflicts on politics, economy and the national security.

Auburn Faculty and Programs Recognized

AUBURN, Ala. – Three Auburn University programs and two faculty members have been recognized in DesignIntelligence magazine’s annual survey of “America’s Best Architecture & Design Schools 2017-2018.” The undergraduate programs in architecture and interior design were each ranked 11th in the nation, and Auburn’s graduate program in landscape architecture was ranked 20th.

4 greek organizations placed on special status following "concerning" behavior

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Four Auburn Greek organizations are on a “Special Status,” according to the University's Office of Greek Life. University officials did not specify what those special statuses were but noted that organizations are placed on special status when "alleged behavior is concerning enough that it seems that the health and safety of students may be in jeopardy.” The University will not release specifics on the incidents, but according to Jill Martin, Director of Greek Life, “complaints typically allege misuse of alcohol or hazing.” Of Auburn’s 51 greek organizations, four have been placed on a special status.

(EETV) – Auburn Engineering professor David Umphress has been named director of the Auburn Cyber Research Center, whose mission includes research and development as well as education, policy and practice. “Our function is to serve as the portal to the outside world for cyber research,” Umphress said.

According to data from the American Red Cross, every two seconds a person in the United States is in need of blood, with the most requested type being type O.

Sigma Pi Dances Their Way to 1st Place at G Phi Beat

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Gamma Phi Beta hosted their annual fundraising event, G Phi Beat, on November 2nd to a huge crowd at the Student Activities Center. G Phi Beat is a dance competition amongst fraternities that benefits Girls on the Run, a program that works to encourage young ladies to live healthy lifestyles and be happy with who they are. Even though the main purpose for the G Phi Beat event was to raise money for GOTR, many students were excited to see fraternities “bust a move” on stage after weeks of hard work and preparation.

Two Auburn Students Finalists for Rhodes Scholarship

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – Two Auburn University seniors will interview for the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship in the following weeks. Kasey Cooper, a senior majoring in mechanical engineering with a minor in sports coaching, and Matthew Rogers, a senior majoring in software engineering, will travel to Birmingham in mid-November to interview with other finalists from Alabama, Louisiana, Florida, Mississippi, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
