Auburn Men's Basketball defeats Lincoln Memorial

Auburn, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn Men’s Basketball kicked off their season tonight with a win over Lincoln Memorial. The Tigers outscored the Railsplitters 76-62 to start off their season strong.

Jared Harper was a key player in this win, scoring 22 points while playing 30 minutes. Another key player was sophomore Chuma Okeke. He put 11 points on the board and also had 11 rebounds.

Coming back from an injury, Anfernee McLemore also shined on the court tonight as he put up 14 points, and senior Horace Spencer finished tonight's game with 14 points and 8 rebounds.

A player who surprisingly didn’t rack up points tonight was Bryce Brown. Brown played 30 minutes but only came out of the game with 6 points.

Despite the win, head coach Bruce Pearl was, “disappointed in how we played, we didn’t play well.”

Jared Harper agreed with Bruce Pearl stating, “We struggled a little bit offensively and defensively. It was an exhibition game, so we are just going to use that as something to learn and get better.”

When senior Horace Spencer was asked about the game he said, “We started off kind of slow, so we picked it up in the middle of the first half. I feel good about this win.”

The Tigers start the season ranked at number 11, which is the highest the Tigers have been ranked since 1999.

Auburn begins their regular season Tuesday, November 6th against South Alabama in Auburn Arena at 8 p.m.
