Women's basketball continues to struggle

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn fell short to No.13 Missouri 51-59 at home Thursday night.

Auburn attempted 76 shots to Missouri’s 47. Auburn defense also helped force 24 turnovers, a season-high for Missouri.

The first quarter was tough on the Tigers.

“If you take away the first quarter it’s a different basketball game,” said Coach Flo. “One thing was we were standing out there shooting threes and we’re not a three-point shooting team.”

Auburn was down 17 in the second half but later cut the score to 4. Auburn's defense picked up and they were able to push in transition, force turnovers and score.

Janiah McKay finished the game with 18 points.

“I take pride in finishing when I go to the basket,” McKay said, “We just have to finish, this is the SEC and you’re not going to be given anything and we just have to build on this and prepare for Alabama."

The Tigers will travel to Tuscaloosa to play Alabama on Sunday. Game time is 4 p.m. CT from Coleman Coliseum in Tuscaloosa; broadcast on SEC Network.
