Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - The NCAA Tournament Committee has announced their top-16 teams one month before Selection Sunday.
No. 8 Auburn was ranked No. 5 overall by the committee and was given a No. 2 seed in the Midwest region.
The projected No.1 are: Virginia (1), Villanova (2), Xavier (3) and Purdue (4). Virginia was awarded the overall top seed in the tournament.
Joining Auburn as No. 2 seeds are Kansas (6), Duke (7) and Cincinnati (8).
The Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) has 4 teams in the top-16, the most by any conference. The Big 12 and Big Ten have three, the SEC and Big East have 2 and the American and Pac-12 have one.
The NCAA Tournament official bracket will be announced on March 11, Selection Sunday. March Madness will begin March 15 and will end April 2 in the championship game held in San Antonio, Texas.
