Soccer heads to the NCAA Tournament

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Soccer is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers earned their fourth straight and 15th overall appearance Monday afternoon.

Auburn will welcome Hofstra in the first round on Friday.

Auburn comes into the tournament with a 7-6-5 record, going 4-2-4 in conference play. The Tigers are one of nine SEC teams to earn a spot in the tournament.

Since 2011, Auburn is 8-5 in the tournament and 5-2 when playing at home, including 3-0 their last three matches.

This playoff run will mark the Tigers sixth year and third straight hosting a first-round match.

In 2015 Auburn was able to advance to the Sweet 16 and reached the Elite Eight last season.

Their opponent Hofstra enters the tournament with a 12-match win streak and an overall record of 15-3-2 and 9-0-0 in conference play.

They earned their tournament spot by winning the Colonial Athletic Association conference tournament.

Friday’s match will be the first time the Tigers and the Pride of Hofstra face off.

The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. CT at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
