Sara P's Fast 5: 5 Takeaways from Auburn's win over Ole Miss

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - The now No. 10 Tigers once again showed their dominance in the SEC, this time defeating Ole Miss. Auburn's 49-23 over the Rebels showed the continued improvement of the Tigers as a whole. Here are my 5 takeaways following the defeat of Ole Miss: 1) Kerryon Johnson is a beast Kerryon Johnson was by far and away the best player on the field for both teams Saturday. Johnson has continued to improve this season, especially considering he was injured during the week 1 game against Georgia Southern. "I don’t know of a lot of players that week one will be running for a touchdown, and they pull a hamstring bad enough to where they have to go down and then be able to come back two weeks later and be able to play at the high level he is right now," said Gus Malzahn.

Auburn, Ala. (EETV)- The No. 3 Tigers will host an exhibition meet against the Ole Miss Rebels at the Auburn University Equestrian Center Friday at 3 pm. Auburn will have a full lineup for three of the four events, with competitors ranging from freshman to seniors.

The Beat Bama Food Drive has begun

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) -  Auburn University and The University of Alabama students are anticipating the Iron Bowl but in the meantime, each campus is taking part in an annual fundraiser to help those suffering from food insecurity in the state of Alabama.  The campus-wide food drive, called the Beat Bama Food Drive at Auburn University or the Beat Auburn, Beat Hunger food drive at the University of Alabama, encourages students to engage in healthy competition while collecting food for the East and West Alabama Food Banks. According to the Beat Bama Food Drive’s website, over 27,000 individuals in Lee County suffer from food security but over the last 23 years, the drive has delivered 5.5 million pounds of food to families in need around the state.  Students are encouraged to donate canned goods in any of the orange and blue bins around campus.

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Miss America 2013, Mallory Hagan, is scheduled to speak at Auburn on October 10th, as part of the university's celebration of 125 Years of Women at Auburn University.  Hagan is an Opelika native and an Auburn senior in Communications.

Volleyball Defeats Tennessee

Knoxville, Tenn. (EETV) -  Volleyball held on for a 3-2 win over Tennessee Wednesday night.  The game gives the Tigers an overall record of 11-3 and 4-1 in the SEC. With a career high of 19 kills, five blocks, and two service aces, sophomore Shaina White had quite the night.

Auburn Men’s Golf Ranked 11th

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) – The Auburn men’s golf team jumped up two places in the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll and are now ranked 11th. The Tigers join eight other SEC teams in the top 25. Texas A&M is the new No. 1 ranked team, with Oklahoma State at No. 2.

Baseball to host "Select a Seat" event

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Baseball and head coach Butch Thompson are holding a "Select a Seat" event Saturday. Starting at 5 p.m., fans will have the opportunity to see the renovated field and they will be able to purchase season tickets.  This event allows the fan to see his/her season view and decide if they would like to commit to that seat(s) or to keep looking elsewhere.
