Tigers defeat Baylor to open Equestrian season

AUBURN, Ala. - Starting the season off on the right hoof, the No. 4 Auburn Tigers dominated their home opener against No. 8 Baylor earlier today, pulling off an impressive 16–2 win. With 8 jumping points and 8 western points, the ladies came to play on Saturday.

The Tigers didn’t just win — they swept all four events: Fences, Flat, Horsemanship, and Reining. Auburn riders came out confident and composed, setting the tone early and never looking back.

Alexa Tordoff set the example in both Horsemanship and Reining events, while Avery Glynn stole the show in Fences, and Kate Parker led the Tigers in Flat.

What made the day even sweeter? Auburn earned Most Outstanding Performer honors, the “Life of a Show Pony” t-shirt giveaway was a success, and the kids' carnival was all the rage. From precise jumps to flawless rides to the smiles on kids’ faces, it was a statement event that showed this squad both means business and is drawing eyes.

“We talked about being a team and riding as a team, and I think every part of the team contributed today,” Auburn head coach Jessica Braswell said. “We also were awarded all four Most Outstanding Performers, which is huge. We needed to win at home, we needed to open with a big victory, and they did that.”

Auburn freshman Caroline Olsen earned Most Outstanding Performer honors in her collegiate debut on the Flat, while Avery Glynn, Alexia Tordoff, and Sydney Swallom also received MOP recognition in the Tigers’ dominant victory.

With energy high and the season just getting started, the Tigers have made it clear they’re ready to chase another championship run. Auburn is back in action on the Plains on Oct. 17 as the Tigers host the South Dakota State Jackrabbits and look to keep the momentum rolling.
