AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) — After a hard loss to Florida on Friday, Auburn Volleyball rebounded on Sunday to sweep Ole Miss behind standout contributions from Liz Markovska, Kate Mansfield, and Larven Dreves.
The Tigers opened strong in the first set, jumping ahead 6–5 with an early kill from Dreves, who was recently named SEC Player of the Week. Markovska added a critical kill, followed by a momentum-shifting point from Zimmerman off an assist by Puetz to push Auburn to a 10–9 lead.
Ole Miss battled back to tie it at 12–12, but a key kill from Mansfield halted the Rebels’ momentum. Three consecutive Ole Miss attack errors gave Auburn a 15–13 edge, forcing the Rebels to call a timeout at 18–15. The Tigers closed out the set with a textbook assist from Dacosta and a kill from Markovska, winning 25–21.
The second set began with tight competition, with the Rebels taking a 6-5 lead. Despite that, Auburn regained control behind another Dreves kill, pulling ahead 10–11. A massive block by Mansfield and Zimmerman gave Auburn a 15–12 cushion, and the Tigers would go on to seal the set after an error by Ole Miss, taking it 25–21.
Auburn maintained its intensity into the third set, opening with a 5–2 lead powered by a block from Mansfield. Midway through the set, the Tigers extended their lead to 15–12 behind another block from Mansfield and Dreves. However, Ole Miss responded with three straight kills, evening the score at 19–19 and forcing Auburn to take a timeout. Out of the timeout, the Tigers pulled ahead to a 22–19 lead and closed out the match with a decisive double kill, completing the sweep.
Mansfield continued her outstanding 2025 campaign, leading Auburn with 5 blocks and controlling the net well. Markovska led the way in kills with 10, and Dreves was close behind with 8 of her own.
The Tigers will be back at Neville on Friday, Oct. 10 to take on Vanderbilt in another SEC matchup.
