AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Auburn University paid tribute to beloved Aubie the Tiger one week before his 45th birthday.

The Auburn community gathered alongside faculty on Saturday to joyfully unveil the long-awaited bronze figure.

Standing 74 inches tall, the Oregon-based artist Allison Brown Caswell designed this impressive sculpture.

Auburn University President Christopher B. Roberts, Bobby Woodard (Senior vice president for Student Affairs), Margaret Arnold (Samuel Ginn College of Engineering senior director of development), Jake Haston (former Student Government Association President), and Logan McKenna (Aubie Program representative) were all present for the event.

"From Camp War Eagle to graduation, Aubie is a part of the most special moments in an Auburn student's life," Roberts said.

Many would say Aubie is Auburn.

After nearly a decade, the idea of adding an Aubie sculpture to the heart of the campus was revisited after he secured his 10th Universal Cheerleaders Association National Championship in 2021.

The Aubie Program and Student Affairs worked together to bring this idea to life following Haston's election as SGA president for the 2022-2023 calendar year.

"This project is the reality of two very special people: Dr. Roberts and former SGA president Jake Haston," said Woodard.

The sculpture was funded solely on donations and made possible by over 180 individual donors.

"Because of all of you who have given to the program…Everyone will always know exactly where to find Aubie now," said Arnold.

From the time you stepped on campus as a prospective student to graduation, and when you return after 50 years for your Golden Eagles Reunion, you can stop and take a cherished photo with Aubie, as he will never stray from the front of the Harold D. Melton Student Center.
