Carlson Bowl: Brothers and former Auburn kickers to verse each for the first time ever on MNF

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)-The last time the Carlson brothers shared the same football field was in 2017, with both boys sporting the orange and blue Auburn threads. Tonight they share the field again, this time in different uniforms.

Tonight’s Monday Night Football matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Las Vegas Raiders just means more for the Carlson family.

Daniel and Anders Carlson were successful kickers for the Auburn football program and both went on to be drafted to the NFL. Daniel has been the starting kicker for the Raiders for six seasons, while Anders is in his rookie season with the Packers.

Daniel’s time on the Plains was nothing short of historic. Carlson never missed an extra point in his collegiate career. He is still the all-time leading scorer in SEC football history with 480 career points and was a three-time member of the All-SEC Team. With 92 total field goals he is still the best to ever kick for the Tigers.

Daniel Carlson was drafted in the fifth round of the 2018 draft by the Minnesota Vikings, but this was short-lived as he was cut two games into his rookie season after missing three field goals in a critical division game against the Packers that ended in a tie. Ironically, this disastrous game occurred in Lambeau Field the home of his little brother’s current team.

The Raiders picked him up right away and he has been one of the most consistent kickers in the NFL since.

In his six seasons as an NFL kicker, Daniel has made 147 of 166 field goal attempts (88.6%). Last season, he set an NFL record for most 50+ yard field goals in a single season with 11 and was named a First-team All-Pro. He also is a 2 time NFL scoring co-leader (2020, 2021).

After redshirting in his brother’s final season at Auburn, Anders was ready to fill his big brother’s shoes-and that he did. Taking over in 2018, the youngest Carlson finished with 410 points, the fifth-most in the SEC.

In fact, the brothers rank first and second in Auburn history in points. Anders was picked up in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL draft by the Packers. In his NFL debut against division rival Chicago, Anders nailed a 52-yard field goal and was good for all five extra point attempts to help the Packers beat the Bears and start 1-0.

In his rookie campaign, Anders has not missed a single field goal or extra point. In fact, both Carlson brothers have been perfect through four games of the season.

There will be 27 people under their name in attendance tonight, including their parents, Jodie and Hans Carlson, as well as their brother Nils who resides in Sweden, will be taking the trip to Allegiant Stadium to watch their boys play under the prime time lights.

With a lack of offensive productivity from Green Bay and Las Vegas, it is very possible that this game becomes a battle of the brothers for the win.
