Auburn Baseball Hosts Rhode Island For a Four Game Series

AUBURN, ALABAMA (EETV)- Auburn baseball is set to welcome Rhode Island for a four game series this week inside Plainsman Park. This four game series will mark six games in six days for the Tigers. Auburn and Rhode Island are slated for games on Friday, a double-header on Saturday and the two will close out the series on Sunday.

Auburn walks into this matchup with a 7-2 record after picking up wins against Alabama State and UAB on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. This is the fourth time Auburn has started a season 7-2 under Butch Thompson. 

In the win over UAB, Auburn picked up 16 runs on 17 hits. Those are season high marks for the Tigers. In the midweek as a whole, Auburn was able to score 29 runs on 29 hits in those two games. 

Rhode Island is heading into this matchup with an 0-6 record after dropping road series against William and Mary and South Alabama. This will be the first time that these two teams have ever met. 

Auburn is 5-1 at home this season with the only loss coming against Yale last weekend in the second game of a double-header. Despite the loss, Auburn was still able to pick up their first series win of the season. 

Auburn’s projected starters for this game is Jordan Armstrong for Friday, Joseph Gonzalez for game one of Saturday’s double-header, Trace Bright for game two and Sunday’s starter has still yet to be announced. 

First pitch for Friday’s game is set for 6 p.m. CST and will not be aired on TV. Saturday’s double header is set to start at 2 p.m. CST. Sunday’s finale is set to start at 1 p.m. CST. 

Gates open one hour prior to first pitch. Fans are encouraged to park in the coliseum parking lot, athletics complex parking deck and the stadium parking deck. Due to gymnastics Friday and basketball Saturday, the Auburn Arena lot will be closed. Students who plan to utilize the new outfield viewing plaza in right center do not need to enter through the main student gate and may bring outside food and beverage into the space.
