Auburn wide receivers coach Cornelius Williams fired

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn fired wide receiver coach Cornelius Williams this afternoon, just four weeks into the season.

Williams spent the last six seasons coaching wide receivers at Troy University, where he was also a player for the Trojans. Williams also spent time at UAB and Jacksonville State.

Eric Kiesau is thought to take over as wide receivers coach after being an analyst for the Tigers this year and coaching under Brian Harsin for the past four years. Kiesau was the offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach at Boise State and moved to Auburn with Harsin.

Harsin has come out to the media about the lack of improvement and consistency among the wide receivers, evident in the win against Georgia State.

“I know I have to continue to work to get better to be the best I can possibly be,” Williams said. “That’s an everyday challenge to make sure I’m prepared and staying on top of everything, and make sure that my guys are doing the same.”

The exact reason for the fire is unknown, but Eagle Eye will continue to update the article as updates become available.
