Auburn University Reports 6 New Cases of Covid-19

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University has reached a number of 6 new cases on campus this week bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 2,269 for the University since August.

In addition, Lee County experienced 179 new cases in the past 14 days. This brings the county’s total to 15,468 cases. This includes 101 confirmed deaths and 64 probable deaths making the total 165 according to the Alabama Department of Public Health. East Alabama Medical Center also reported 11 hospitalizations with 2 ventilators in use on March 29th.

Auburn’s Sentinel Testing program which consists of voluntarily testing asymptomatic students, faculty, and staff conducted 524 tests last week and had a 0.2% positivity rate.

Auburn has received a total of 13,900 vaccine doses so far. 6,616 of the first dose of vaccine and 5,260 of the second dose of the vaccine has been administered on campus as of March 29, 2021. Auburn is currently following a phase plan that will be used to distinguish how the vaccine will be administered. The University has entered into Phase 1C which includes individuals who must remain on campus to do their job and are unable to practice physical distancing, adults with high risk medical conditions, individuals who are at the age of 65 or older, and students that are involved in remote or off-campus clinical settings according to the University Resource Center.
