Greenhill, Glavine Combine for 10 Strikeouts in Shutout Win Against Little Rock

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Tiger pitchers Cody Greenhill and Peyton Glavine combined for no runs allowed in the win against Little Rock. The duo allowed only three hits and had a total of 10 strikeouts on the night.

Greenhill started for the Tigers, pitching the first five innings of the game. He allowed only three hits and struck out five of his 19 batters faced on the night.

Ryan Bliss set the tone on offense in the 1st inning with a single-run shot over the left-field wall to put the Tigers on top. From that point on, they did not look back scoring 7 runs before the game was over.

The Tigers scored five more runs in the 5th. The highlight of the inning would be Tyler Miller’s 3-run home run. This would be the end of Little Rock starting pitcher, Aaron Funk’s night, getting yanked after allowing six earned runs.

From the 6th inning on, no Little Rock pitcher lasted more than one inning.

Glavine entered the game for Auburn in the 6th inning. He recorded nine outs in his nine batters faced, which included a career-high five strikeouts.

Carson Swilling came in for the Tigers in the 9th to record the final three outs. He got a strikeout of his own and finalized the Auburn shutout.

Head Coach Butch Tompson said after the game that he was, “pleased with the efficiency of the pitching staff” and that it is, “one of the first times we have had our bullpen a little stronger doing into a game two.”

The two teams meet again Saturday at 2 p.m CT and again on Sunday at 1 p.m.
