Auburn Women’s Golf Team Set to Kick Off Spring Season at Moon Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - Closing out their fall season with a tournament title at the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic, the No. 5, Auburn Tigers, are set to pick up their spring slate this Sunday in Melbourne, Florida, at the Moon Golf Invitational.

This will mark the first appearance for the Tigers at the Moon Golf Invitational, a three-day event hosted by former Auburn golfer Ann Moon and her husband Dan Moon. The tournament will include six out of the top 10 ranked teams per Golfstat's rankings. Auburn will be joined by No. 2 South Carolina, No. 3 LSU, No. 7 Arkansas, No. 8 Florida and No. 9 Oklahoma.

Freshman and co-medalist at the Liz Murphey tournament, Megan Schofill, will be leading the Auburn line up with the No. 1 spot. Juniors Mychael O’Berry and Kaleigh Telfer will follow, and true freshmen, Anna Foster and Elina Sinz will round out the group.

Head coach, Melissa Luellen, is confident that the team’s mental and emotional management will be critical for a win this weekend. “It's important to stay in the present and be mentally strong and sharp...if we do that, then obviously you add it up and we're going to win the tournament,” Luellen said.

All 18 teams will be teeing off at the Duran Golf Club at 7:30 a.m. CT, and the Tigers will be paired with Arkansas, Louisville and LSU for Sunday’s opening round.
