SEC Signs $3 Billion Deal With Disney

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - As the current deal between the SEC and CBS draws to a close, a new $3 billion, 10-year agreement with Disney has been finalized.

Disney, which owns ESPN and ABC, purchased the broadcast rights for the conference's biggest games, meaning all SEC games will appear on one of their networks for the duration of the deal beginning in 2024. The agreement includes rights to both football and men's basketball games.

ABC will broadcast both afternoon SEC football games as well as selected primetime games. In addition, conference matches will be shown on other affiliate stations and the ESPN+ streaming service.

The network deal will allow for more flexibility when it comes to scheduling games in regard to which network and what time of day. Game times can also be established further in advance.

“One of our primary goals was to improve the television scheduling process in ways that will benefit our students, coaches, alumni and fans,” SEC commissioner Greg Sankey said in the news release.

“With all SEC events now under The Walt Disney Company umbrella, we were able to craft an agreement that includes more lead time for many game time announcements, and in many ways modernizes the college football scheduling process.”

The existing agreements regarding football, men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball and operation of the SEC Network will still continue through 2033-34.
