Men's Golf to Start Season at Blessings Collegiate Invitational

AUBURN, Ala.(EETV) - The Auburn men’s golf team will start their the season at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. 

“We are excited to be back in action and really looking forward to competing this week in Arkansas,” head coach Nick Clinard said. “The guys are ready to play and have some fun this week. We are extremely grateful of the SEC, the Auburn administration and the presidents for giving our student-athletes the opportunity to play this fall.”

The Tigers' line-up for the three-round tournament consists of seniors Andrew Kozan and Wells Padgett; sophomores C.J. Easley and Alex Vogelsong; and freshman J.M. Butler. 

Last season, Kozan averaged 71.14 strokes per round, earning PING All-Southeast Region and Second Team All-SEC honors. He had six top-20 finishes with 13 rounds at or below par. 

Padgett had three top-20 finishes and averaged 72 strokes per card. He had 11 rounds at or below par and nine under par.

Easley was named the SEC Freshman of the Week at the Tiger Invitational and averaged 71 stroke per round a season ago. He secured five below-par rounds out of six. 

Vogelsong, an SEC All-Freshman Team honoree, averaged 71.62 strokes per round and is in fourth for the lineup. He has had three top-20 finishes, including 12 rounds at or below par eight of which were under par. 

Butler will make his collegiate debut in the season-opening event. Junior Golf Scoreboard ranked him the No. 19 player in the country . Coming from Louisville, he was the 2019 Kentucky High School Junior Golfer of the Year and Kentucky Boys Junior Golfer of the Year.
