Lady Tigers Finish Third at The Ally

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) – The Auburn women’s golf team shot a 4-under 284 to move up two spots and finish third in The Ally at Old Waverly in the third and final round.

Junior Mychael O’Berry, led the Tigers with 5-under through four holes. She made six birdies on the first nine holes and finished with a career-low 68 (-4). On the player leaderboard she ended in a tie for 22nd. 

Freshman Elina Sinz had a strong day on the course with a 72 in Wednesday’s third round. She shot 68 (-4) and 71 (-1) in the first two rounds and placed sixth overall for her first tournament at Auburn. 

“The ‘best day for last day’ came to fruition,” Auburn head coach Melissa Luellen said. “What a solid showing by Elina. I am very impressed with her stoic mindset. I am pleased with the grit from all our players for digging deep for every shot. These girls love ‘team golf.’ It was a fun day on the course.”

Freshman Megan Schofill shot a 71 (-1) on Wednesday and finished at 1-over for the tournament. She made her season debut this week and tied for 16th overall. In six of the eight tournaments she’s played in at Auburn she finished top 20. 

Junior Kaleigh Telfer and freshman Anna Foster both finished in the top 40. Telfer shot a 73 (+1) in the third round and Foster carded a 75 (+3). This was Fosters first collegiate tournament and finished third on the team with nine birdies.  

Auburn’s 284 in the third round was matched with South Carolina, the tournament champion.

The Lady Tigers will wrap the fall schedule with the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic, on Nov. 6-8 at the UGA Golf Course in Athens, Georgia.
