Auburn man to be recognized during Mixer Driver Appreciation Week.

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV) - An Auburn man will be recognized by The Alabama Concrete Industries Association (ACIA) during Mixer Driver Appreciation Week. The program will honor the longest-serving driver at each one of ACIA’s ready mix member companies.

Ricky Fitten is an employee at Fairburn Ready Mix. Fitten has driven trucks professionally for 24 years.

Fitten is scheduled to be acknowledged on Oct. 7 by the organization. He delivers ready mixed concrete to commercial and residential job sites in various locations.

Fitten believes his passion for truck driving plays a significant role in why he chose to remain in the industry. He says he enjoys the job atmosphere and utilizing his skills.

Fitten says he is grateful for the title and gives credit to his faith for his recognition. He says he will celebrate the accomplishment by discussing his journey with loved ones.

Fitten typically works 10 hours a day. He travels to states such as Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida.

Fitten says his family, friends, and coworkers encourage him while driving. When he is not driving trucks, he enjoys resting and spending time with family.
