How to Use GuideSafe’s Anonymous COVID-19 Contact Tracing App

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Auburn University encourages its campus community to download and use the GuideSafe Exposure Notification app in an effort to keep the already declining numbers declining further. Here is how you can be a part of that effort in three simple steps:

Step 1: Install the “GuideSafe Exposure Notification App” from your phone’s App Store and be sure that your phone has Bluetooth enabled.

Step 2: Should you receive a positive COVID-19 test, you should report it in the app. Your test will then be verified by the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Step 3: Make sure the app continues to run in the background of your phone. The app uses minimal battery and data, so its activity will hardly be noticed. In doing this, you will be notified if you have come into close contact with someone that has tested positive for COVID-19. In return, should you test positive, those who came into close contact with you in the last 14 days and have the app will be notified. However, your identity and location remain completely anonymous during the entirety of this process.

It is important that everyone does their part to stop the spread of COVID-19. The greater use this app gets, the faster those in contact with the virus will be alerted and can self-isolate.
