Women's Basketball Advances in the SEC Tournament After Defeating Vanderbilt

Greensville, NC (EETV)- Auburn's season will continue another day as the Tigers defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores by a final score of 77 to 67.

It was another solid outing from Auburn's Unique Thompson who led the way with 21 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. Thompson was one rebound awayfrom her 22nd double-double which would tie her for the most in the NCAA this season.

Auburn's defense was crucial to the win forcing 25 turnovers and converting them into 31 points. Coach Terri Williams-Flournoy praised their effort saying, “Even in the first half when we weren’t shooting the ball extremely well, we continued to fight and pick up our defense in the second half, and scored out of their turnovers.”

After a tighly contested battle through three quarters, Auburn used a 17-2 run to run away with game. As a team, they shot a season high 62 percent in the fourth quarter alone.

Auburn will play tomorrow at 1:25pm against the fifth seed Arkansas Razorbacks as they look to beat them for the first time since 2008. The game will be broadcasted on SEC Network.
