Auburn forward Isaac Okoro named SEC Freshman of the Week

Birmingham, Ala. (EETV) - Isaac Okoro was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week on Monday, Nov. 15.

Okoro is the first Auburn freshman to be honored as SEC Freshman of the Week this season.

He averaged 16 points and 5.5. rebounds during Auburn's victories over South Alabama and CSUN. Okoro contributed 3 assists and 3 blocks per tilt during the week.

The freshman scored the game-winning points at South Alabama. With 2.7 seconds left to spare, Okoro led Auburn to a 70-69 win. As a result of his performance in that game, Okoro is now the only Auburn player in at least the last 15 seasons to have a stat line of 15 points, six rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals.

During the game against CSUN, Okoro scored a career-high 17 points and added five rebounds. The game ended with a 116-70 victory for Auburn.

The forward has scored in double figures during all four games. He is the third Auburn freshman to accomplish this since 1998, including teammate Danjel Purifoy.
