Auburn keeps clean sheet against LSU

Auburn, AL (EETV)- The Auburn Soccer team lost a close contest falling 1-0 in overtime last Sunday against Ole Miss but found to way to bounce back in a 2-0 win over the LSU tigers improving to 3-1 in SEC play.

The first goal of the game came from defender Alyssa Malonson midway through the first half. This stands as the first goal of the season for Malonson.

The second goal of the game was scored by Kori Locksley as she found the back of the net late in the second half of the game to score her second goal of the season as well her career.

The Auburn defense held the visiting tigers to 0 goals as Auburn goalie Kate Hart lead the way receiving a shutout for the game. The shutout serves as Harts 6th shutout of the season.

This serves as the 29th meeting between the two teams as Auburn takes a large lead in the series at 18-8-3 over LSU all time. The win over the visiting tigers will be the only regular season meeting between the two teams this season. Auburn has 6 games remaining in the season all of them being within the SEC.

The pair of goals along with an impressive defensive performance helped Auburn to secure the win and improve to 6-4-2 overall. The tigers look to improve to 4-1 in SEC play as they travel to Starkville, Mississippi to face the Mississippi State Bulldogs next thursday on October 10th.
