Auburn Heads to Gainesville for Top 10 SEC Matchup

AUBURN, Ala (EETV) - The No. 7 Auburn Tigers head down to The Swamp to take on the No. 10 Florida Gators in a big top 10 matchup.

Both teams are undefeated in the 2019 season, and Florida has a nine-game winning streak, which is one of the longest in college football.

Auburn has been successful on the road this season, with key wins against Oregon and Texas A&M, both in Texas, but the Tigers have a big road test Saturday when it comes to the Florida Gators.

The message Gus Malzahn is giving his team this week is this: “We’ve just got to continue to improve…really focusing on winning the line of scrimmage on both sides of the football. That's what we'll need to do to have a chance to beat these guys."

One key factor to Florida’s success this year has been their strong defense. Coach Gus Malzahn addressed this in Tuesday’s press conference and said, “You look at them defensively, what stands out to me is how aggressive they are. They can really run. Twenty-four sacks, I think that is second in the country…a very good defense.”

Bo Nix will be under pressure like never before this weekend. Malzahn commented on playing in The Swamp saying, “Obviously, we are going on the road this week, and it's going to be probably the most hostile environment we've been in. It's going to be loud. We've been working crowd noise for six weeks, so hopefully that will help prepare him for this environment."

The quarterback matchup between Bo Nix and Kyle Trask will be intense as both are trying to keep their teams undefeated. Despite Florida now having their backup quarterback be the starter, Kyle Trask is not backing down from the challenge. Malzahn commented on Trask saying, “Their quarterback has one of the best completion percentages in all of college football.”

This top 10 SEC matchup will kick off Saturday at 2:30 p.m CT from Ben Hill Griffin Stadium in Gainesville. The game can be found on CBS.
