Auburn to Face a Stern Test Against Mississippi State

Auburn, AL (EETV)- Seventh ranked Auburn faces off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in an SEC west battle in Jordan-Hare Stadium. Auburn will look to keep their momentum going after a statement win at Texas A&M.

The Tigers come into the game riding a 4-0 record while the Bulldogs have a 3-1 record with their lone defeat coming from Kansas State.

Mississippi State handed the the Tigers a loss last year as former quarterback Nick Fitzgerald rushed for 195 yards and two touchdowns to win 23-9.

This Bulldog team comes into this season with a new face behind center in Tommy Stevens. Stevens waited in the wings behind Fitzgerald and now gets his turn to play in his final year in Starkville. Stevens has passed for 441 yards and five touchdowns this season.

One of the players to watch for Mississippi State is running back Kylin Hill. Hill has rushed for 551 yards and five touchdowns in the first three games of this season.

The Bulldog defense is a very young squad this year. They will face a big challenge against the Auburn offense who seems to be finding their rythm as the weeks go on.

Auburn's offense will look to establish their running game against the Bulldog defense who has been suspect against the run. Jatarvius Whitlow will be a big factor in the game as he leads the team with 408 yards and four touchdowns on the season.

Bo Nix is starting to get more and more confident under Gus Malzhan's leadership as he has shown his ability to handle adversity in tough situations.

Nix has tallied 645 yards passing and five touchdowns to start the season. The freshman will be in the spotlight as many eyes will be looking to see how he fares after an emotional high against Texas A&M.

The Mississippi State offensive line will have to face the talented Auburn defense that only allowed 56 yards rushing against Texas A&M. Defensive lineman Derrick Brown is questionable for Saturday's game as he injured his upper body in last week's game. Saturday's game is slated for 6:00 PM and can be seen on ESPN.
