Auburn to face New Mexico in 2019 Legends Classic semifinals

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The Auburn men's basketball team is scheduled to play New Mexico in the 2019 Legends Classic in November 2019.

The Gazelle Group announced Thursday that the Tigers will travel to Brooklyn, N.Y., for the Legends Classic, which takes place at the Barclays Center, home to the Brooklyn Nets. Auburn and New Mexico will be joined by Richmond and Wisconsin.

“Growing up in Boston, New York City was always a hub for college and professional basketball,” head coach Bruce Pearl said. “From a standpoint of our student-athletes, getting the chance to visit one of the greatest cities in the world, especially before Thanksgiving and the holiday season, was something I didn't want to pass up

Auburn is slated to host a pair of games in the regional rounds in addition to the New York event. The Tigers will face Cal State Northridge and Colgate inside Auburn Arena before traveling to Brooklyn.

Auburn has played New Mexico once in program history, winning 83-78 in the first round of the 2015 Diamond Head Classic. This victory took place during Coach Pearl’s second season with the Tigers.

The Legends Classic is one of the most anticipated early-season tournaments for men's basketball.
