Injured police officer's condition improves

Columbus, Ga. - Officer Webb Sistrunk received a special visit from his K9 partner, Leon, today at Piedmont Columbus Regional.

The injured officer's health is improving, and he has been moved from ICU to critical care.

Officer Sistrunk was shot in the line of duty on Sunday, May 19, 2019 along with Officer Evan Elliott and Officer William Buechner, who was fatally wounded. Officer Sistrunk sustained a critical injury after being shot in his right shoulder.

Sistrunk is a K9 officer and eight year veteran of the Auburn Police Division.

Leon was present during the incident on Sunday, but he was not injured. Leon's third birthday is in July, and his favorite toy is a tennis ball.

The Sistrunk family said they are thankful for everyone's continued prayers and asks that the community prays for the Buechner and Elliottt families as well.
