Morgan Podany (17) Softball vs Kennesaw State on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, in Auburn, Ala. Cat Wofford/Auburn Athletics

Softball Defeats Kennesaw State 4-2

With 10 regular-season home games remaining, Auburn still have the chance to exceed last year’s home record of 29-3.

Prior to the start of the game, Auburn softball opened up it stadium to all dog owners and their favorite four-legged friends to host Bark with Auburn Parks & Recreation and the Lee County Humane Society for awareness towards animal adoption.

The game was not pretty as the Owls kept the Tigers at bay for much of the game. After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Tigers responded with a Tannon Snow RBI single and a fielder's choice from Alyssa Rivera to tie the game.

The stalemate continued until pinch-hitter Aspyn Godwin drew a bases loaded walk to give Auburn a 3-2 lead.

In the sixth inning, Morgan Pedany added an insurance run with a solo home run which would be enough to give Auburn the win.

"It wasn't pretty, but did we ever battle,” said auburn head Coach Mickey Dean after Auburn freshman Aspyn Goodwin draws a basis loaded walk late in the bottom of the 5thgiving Auburn the 3-2 lead.

"I've been working on some things with my swing…,” said Auburn senior Morgan Podany after the game.

The Tigers will put their home record on the line this weekend against No. 18 Georgia on Friday. With 10 regular-season home games remaining, Auburn still has the chance to exceed last year’s home record of 29-3.

Auburn's record improves to 29-5 (5-1 in SEC) and they will host 18th ranked Georgia this weekend in a three game series.
