Auburn Soccer Loses Heartbreaker to Florida in Penalties.

Orange Beach, Ala (EETV)- Auburn Soccer faced off against the Florida Gators in the first round of the SEC Tournament. This matchup was the first since the quarterfinals of last year's tournament.

Florida would get on the board first as Auburn would concede a penalty on a rough challenge in the box. Madison Alexander would convert the penalty to put the Gators up 1-0.

Florida would go down to 10 men as Sarah Troccoli picked up a red card in a heated exchange with Auburn's Bri Folds.

Auburn would trail for most of the second half until Taylor Troutman scored off a corner kick in the 74th minute to even the score at 1-1 going into overtime. Both teams were held scoreless in overtime meaning the game would be decided by penalties.

The Gators prevailed in the shootout as Kaylan Marckesse saved three attempts in the shootout to help the Gators advance to the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Auburn's regular season record finishes at 12-5-2 (4-5-2 in SEC) and they will await a potential berth in the NCAA Tournament next week.
