Women's Basketball Heads to Tennessee for SEC Tournament

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (EETV) - Women's basketball will take on the No. 12 Tennessee  Thursday night in the second round of the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Tigers (14-14, 5-11 SEC) secure the No. 10 seed in the tournament after defeating Ole Miss 60-55 in their regular-season finale.

The Lady Vols (23-6, 11-15) finished in a four-way tie for fourth place, but tiebreakers with LSU, Texas A&M, and Missouri dropped them to the No. 7 seed.

Auburn received good news Tuesday when the conference office announced that two Tigers earned postseason honors -  Unique Thomson was named to the SEC All-Freshman Team, and Daisa Alexander earned a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team. Thompson is the SEC’s leading freshman in rebounds with 8.7/game, and Alexander leads the SEC in steals with 2.6/game.

A victory over Tennessee would give Auburn its fourth SEC Tournament win in five years and would be the Tigers' first win over a ranked opponent this season.

With a win, Auburn would face the No. 2 seed South Carolina in the tournament quarterfinals.
