Women’s golf ends fall season with a top-5 finish

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) – Women’s golf team finished their fall season tied for fifth place at the Battle at the Beach on Sunday.

The Tigers finished at 18-over for the week, tied with Houston. Top-ranked UCLA took the team championship at 13-under.

Freshman Mychael O’Berry played as an individual and carded the top round by a Tiger with a 1-under 70. O’Berry shot five birdies on Sunday to finish her first under-par round of her college career as she placed 64th.

Senior Michaela Owen was Auburn’s top finisher, tying for 18th place with a score of 3-over. Owen, senior Kelli Murphy and freshman Kaleigh Telfer all shot 73s on Sunday. Murphy tied for 22nd, and Telfer tied for 38th.

Sophomore Elena Hualde carded Auburn’s best round of those in the starting lineup with an even-par 71 to finish her week. Two of her three rounds finished at par or better. Hualde tied for 26th place as she finished 5-over.

The Tigers’ fall schedule has now come to an end. Auburn will head to the UCF Challenge in Orlando Feb. 4-6 to start the spring season.
