Wiley and Purifoy to be held out due to possible ineligibility

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Due to possible ineligibility issues, Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy will be held out of Auburn's game against Barry tonight.

Auburn Athletics released the following statement regarding Wiley and Purifoy:

“To avoid any potential eligibility issues, Auburn Athletics has decided to hold men’s basketball players Austin Wiley and Danjel Purifoy out indefinitely. Because this is related to an ongoing investigation, we cannot comment further at this time.”

Earlier this fall, associate head coach Chuck Person was arrested for his involvement in a bribery scheme. Person is currently under federal investigation.

The FBI report says that Person participated in a bribery scheme in which he successfully directed student-athletes to retain services of a specific financial advisor and business manager.

Despite Wiley and Purifoy being held out with their eligibility in question, the athletes discussed in the report have not been named.
