Swim & Dive Dual Meet with Texas A&M

Auburn, Ala. (EETV) - Swim and dive had their first dual meet against Texas A&M this Saturday, winning 162-138 on the men’s side, but fell short with a final score of 171-122 in the women’s meet.

Distance standouts Bryan Lee, Grant Shenk, and Russell Noletto had a strong afternoon of swims and finished 1-3-4 in the 1000 and 500 freestyle.

“Hats off to the distance swimmers, I felt like they won the meet for us today,” said Auburn head coach Brett Hawke.

But, it wasn’t only the distance swimmers that stood out this meet. Sprinters Peter Holoda and Zach Apple finished 1-3 in both the 50 and 100 freestyle. Holoda finished the 50 free with a time of 20.23 and 44.22 in the 100. Apple also finished with a time of 20.34 in the 50 and 44.68 in the 100.

Hugo Gonzalez also rounded up points for the men’s meet with a winning time of 1:47.66.

Auburn finished with a total of four wins on the women’s side, with Aly Tetzloff making three of them, taking first in the 100 back touching at 53.37, 100 fly at 53.16, and 200 IM at 2:00.43.

The Auburn women’s team also won the 400 free relay with Erin Falconer (51.07), Julie Meynen (50.10), Ashton Ellzey (50.81) and Jessica Merritt (50.76).

Auburn diving also had a successful meet with Alison Maillard winning the 1-meter with her season-best score of 289.88 and the 3-meter with a 313.43.

Auburn will remain home for their meet this week, taking on Alabama at 1 p.m. Friday at the Martin Aquatics Center. This meet will be the last dual meet for Auburn’s senior class.
