SEC Media Days Recap: Malzahn compares this year to 2013 season

Hoover, Ala. (EETV) - The Auburn Tigers closed out SEC Media Days on Thursday. This year the three players to received the honor to represent their teammates. Along with head coach Gus Malzahn was placekicker Daniel Carlson, defensive back Tray Matthews and offensive lineman Braden Smith.

All four Tigers reflected some on last season, but made it clear their focus was on the future.

Matthews and Smith even talked about how coach Malzahn has changed some in his coaching style and strategy. The more balanced coaching style comes along with the new edition of Chip Lindsey.

Malzahn said it will be Lindsey's offense and he is confident in him.

Malzahn also said the second game of the season, against the reigning national champions, will show where the team is.

Malzahn did not give a time table for naming a starting quarterback, but he did say he and Lindsey wanted to name one sooner rather than later.

Auburn's first game of the season will be September 2 against Georgia Southern.
