Primary Election 2018: What you need to know before heading to the polls

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (EETV)- This Tuesday morning Alabama voters head to the polls for the 2018 midterm primary election.

Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill estimates over 800,000 Alabama voters will turn out at polls across the state.

“We anticipate between 25 and 30 percent of our eligible voters to participate in the process,” said Merrill.

Merrill says that around 26 counties will have electronic poll books that are aimed at helping to make the check in process easier at polling locations.

“We have those electronic poll books that will reduce the wait time 60-75 percent for those counties that are using them” said Merrill.

Voters can find their polling location by visiting www.alabamavotes.gov.

Polling locations in Alabama are open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Merrill advises anyone that encounters issues at the polls to contact his office at 334-242-7270 or his cell phone at 334-328-2787
