Softball clinches series against Kentucky in dramatic fashion

AUBURN, Ala (EETV) - No. 11 Auburn clinched a series victory over No. 19 Kentucky, defeating the Wildcats 1-0 in a thrilling 12 inning match-up.

Auburn Tannon Snow would step up to the plate with the game on her shoulders with two outs in the bottom of the 12th. She would blast a ball over the right-field fence to give Auburn the walk-off win.

Auburn was led defensively by Kaylee Carlson who pitched 12 scoreless innings with five strikeouts and five hits allowed.

Kentucky's Autumn Humes was just as impressive, pitching 12.7 innings with one run allowed and five strikeouts.

Both sides were quiet offensively until Auburn threatened in the sixth inning. After an Alyssa Rivera triple, Auburn loaded the bases but was unable to score.

In the seventh inning, Kentucky had runners on second and third with two outs. Carlson was able to get out of the jam with a fly ball to Alyssa Rivera.

The Tigers improve to 30-6 overall and 4-4 in SEC play. They will hit the road to Oxford to face Ole Miss in a three-game series, which will begin Friday.
