Miss Auburn Candidate: Kathryn Kennedy

AUBURN, Ala. (EETV)- Preparing the next generation of leaders, that is something that 2018 Miss Auburn candidate Kathryn Kennedy has spent much of her Auburn career doing. Kennedy, a junior from Birmingham, Alabama majoring in biomedical sciences, values her experiences serving in the Student Government Association and as a counselor for Camp War Eagle.

“One of the things I've been involved with is the Student Government Association, and specifically Cabinet,” said Kennedy, “and so my role in Cabinet has been the Director of Freshman Forum.”

Kennedy is running on the sixth part of the Auburn Creed which states: “I believe in the human touch, which cultivates sympathy with my fellow men and mutual helpfulness and brings happiness for all.”

“That line of the Creed was the first line I learned my freshman year,” said Kennedy, “and its always stuck out to me…when I think of the Auburn Family this is the specific line that comes to mind.”

Kennedy enjoys the fact that Miss Auburn has the opportunity to meet and work with many members of the Auburn Family from students, faculty and alumni.

“I think it’s really cool that Miss Auburn gets to interact with all aspects of the Auburn Family and not just one,” mentioned Kennedy.

Kennedy, if elected, wants to make sure Miss Auburn represents all individuals on campus, not just members of her specific friend group.

“I really just want to continue in this role making it represent Auburn to the best of the ability,” said Kennedy, “and realize that Miss Auburn is representing all these different aspects and not just her friends.”

Kennedy says her experiences as a parent counselor during Camp War Eagle and her involvement on campus help set her apart from the other four Miss Auburn candidates.

“I think that has prepared me to interact with any alumni or administrators I might work with,” said Kennedy, “and then I think through my other opportunities in SGA or working with my school’s college I’ve just gotten to interact with lots of different students and hear their viewpoints.”
